Mayor Doherty for gov-ner?

Many of youse probably seen in da paper today dat Mayor Doherty has officially launched his campaign to run for gov-ner in Pennsylvania. I seen dis has many people all fired up and runnin' dere mouths about dis safely behind a keyboard. Here's one comment I tink dat is well versed and on par with what we should see from commenter "Rick":

"Regarding the magazine that called Scranton one of America's fastest dying cities, the publication later recanted that the writer had used out of date statistics to arrive at this conclusion rather than using the most recent statistics that show the opposite.

Regarding the mayor runnning for governor, well, we all have an ego so let's see what happens. I don't think he has to step down in order to run for governor. So, take heart. If he loses, he'll remain in Scranton.

Taking claim for the medical college is a real stretch and people know that if they've read.

What I'd like to see is this mayor and the incoming "Super-majority" do when that is in place, is for all of them to join forces for the reinstatement of rail passenger service. Scranton deserves this and they have a responsibility to speak out on this issue.

If the mayor is smart, he'll get on board and use this in his campaign as efforts are now underway to create the Philadelphia-Harrisburg-Pittsburgh line into high-speed, while Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has nothing.

Rail service will bring investment and jobs along the line. With the move to trains by many shippers, those shippers will look favorably on locating their businesses in Scranton and the suburbs. As someone running for the highest office in the Commonwealth, he should be touting this as good for the Commonwealth's infrastructure.

To those who use the stale arguement that rails will bring in the drug dealers and low-lifes, they're already in Scranton and many were born and raised in Scranton.

All ears should be on the mayor's announcement on Tuesday. This will be very interesting"

Whaddyas tink uh dis? I tink it's pretty neat to have someone from Scran'un reppin' da whole state. I know dere are many "Scran'uhn haters" (aka people who have nothin' else to do but foam at da mouth while yappin' away at how terrible dis area is even though dey lived here dere 'ntire lives here and did nuttin to make dis place better/nicer) who tink it's a joke he's even runnin' for da mere fact he's from Scran'uhn. I'm lil concerned dat he'll be too focused on runnin' for gov-ner insteaduh focusin' on da issues many Scrantonians face on a day-tuh-day basis. Do youse tink uh dis, too?

Right now his official site doesn't say much about what he's gonna do if elected. But here's a lil' bit I found interestin':

"
To get Pennsylvania working again, we need to invest in our cities, and I don’t just mean Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

I mean the Scrantons, the Eries, the Allentowns and Bethlehems, the Yorks, and the Altoonas.

If we’re going to get Pennsylvania back on track, then the people in Erie need to care about the success of Philadelphia. And the people of Philadelphia need to care about the success of Wilkes-Barre. And the people of Wilkes-Barre must care about the success of Johnstown.

If we’re going to rebuild our state’s identity, we’re going to have to accept that we’re all in this together."

EDIT: That lil' bit he says about Philly carin' about Wilx-burr and Wilx-burr carin' about Johnston, etc. goes hand in hand wit dis post I made not too long ago.

Subtle Sexuality comin' to an open mic near youse?

For those of you who happen to be Da Office fanatics like us, den you probably caught da Halloween episode last night. At dee end of da show dere was a montage for Kelly and Erin's new girl group called "Subtle Sexuality." Viewers could log onto da Office website to watch da video and stuff.

Well, I tink dere "World Tour" dates tricked some of youse:

For as much as I'd like to believe dey're comin' here, I'm pretty sure dis ain't real. Now, you all know dey name drop a lot of local businesses. I tink dat's great. However, eeder dey pulled a lil Halloween trick on yas, or dey did an excellent job at marketing (and great for deez businesses). If you check out dere site, under "Buy" dey're sellin' a poster of all their "tour dates."

I don't know if da writers of dis show did dis to stay true to da places located in da area (as they have been), or if dey wanted to have NEPA folks excited to see places dey can relate to on a big TV show in aesthetic form.

You can still show up to dem places in hopes of meetin' dat spicy lil' Indian chick. It definitely won't hurt business, heyna?
